XML/RSS

What is XML/RSS?

XML/RSS is a format for syndicating news and other web content. An XML/RSS feed allows web users to automatically draw information from a web site into their web browser, aggregator or news reader. Web users can then view a range of feeds, which are updated automatically, in one place without having to search for current content. Web sites can use XML/RSS in the same way by syndicating the content from other sites to keep their sites up to date.

What does XML/RSS stand for?

XML stands for E Xtensible Markup Language

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a lightweight XML format

How can I use XML/RSS?

The easiest way to harness the power of XML/RSS is to click on the XML/RSS link on the page you are interested in and drag the feed URL into the bookmarks bar of your web browser. If that doesn't make any sense, or you'd like a longer explanation we recommend you read this intro to RSS .
